Which structures can I load?

Accepted Answer

Any structure in the public PDB archives by its four-character PDB id (for example 1CBS, 1HSG, or the adenine riboswitch 1Y26), covering proteins, nucleic acids, and ligand complexes.

Does it handle RNA and nucleic acids, not just proteins?

Accepted Answer

Yes — proteins, RNA/DNA, and ligand complexes. The adenine riboswitch (1Y26) is a built-in preset specifically to show an RNA-plus-bound-ligand workflow.

How are residues selected — what numbering do you use?

Always author numbering — the chain letters and residue numbers you cite in papers (e.g. "chain A residues 1250–1265"). If a range falls outside what is actually resolved in the structure, the viewer warns you and asks you to confirm rather than silently selecting the wrong region.

What does Molecular Studio cost?

The live browser preview and clip export are free. Publication-quality cloud rendering (up to 4K) is metered — you see a cost estimate and explicitly confirm before any render starts, so you are never billed without consent.

Question 6

Is my data sent anywhere?

The agent only fetches structures from trusted public archives (PDBe/EBI, RCSB, wwPDB); arbitrary or internal URLs are blocked by an allowlist. Saved scenes can be shared as read-only links that expose only the scene — never your chat transcript or account.

Can I run molecular dynamics or folding jobs here too?

Molecular Studio focuses on structure visualization and cinematography today; trajectory (MD) playback is on the roadmap. The heavy simulation, folding, and sequencing compute itself runs as GPU jobs on the same KinoCloud platform, with a cost estimate and budget caps before anything runs.
